Since our establishment in 1950, the Women's International Club has grown in size and scope. However, some things about us have remained constant.

The Club motto is "FRIENDSHIP THROUGH UNDERSTANDING" and the Club logo is in the form of a Lotus-shaped torch, the Lotus blossom being a symbol of friendship and the flame signifying the enlightenment of the darkness of misunderstanding between women of different nationalities.
The Club is a secular and strictly non-political, non-profit organization, open only to women, and is run by a twenty one-member, multinational Executive Committee, elected by the membership to a two-year term of office. The official languages of communication are English and Bahasa Indonesia, and the membership is comprised of 60% Indonesian and 40% other nationalities, providing the opportunity for ladies from all over the world to meet and mingle with other women on a personal basis.

The aims of the club are :
1. To foster friendship and mutual understanding between women of different nationalities
2. To contribute to the cultural development of women in general
3. To promote the cause of education
4. To contribute to social improvement

The day-to-day operation of the Club is financed from entrance fees and monthly dues paid by the members. Smaller Fund-raisers are organized, as necessary, by the Ways & Means Committee.
A financial audit is conducted yearly by a Registered Public Accounting firm, and an official report is published and is available to the members.

In addition to the activities organized for the purposes of Social Welfare and Scholarships, the Club attemps to fulfill its aims by:

  1. Holding Members Meetings: usually three Business Meetings per year plus an Annual General Meeting;
  2. Organizing educational, cultural, and other events in the form of lectures, outings, etc.;
  3. Maintaining a Library for use by all Club Members;
  4. Publishing a Bulletin and a Journal;
  5. Maintaining contact with similar organizations within and outside of Indonesia.
Application for membership may be made by completing an official Application Form and submitting same to the Liaison Officer. An initial interview is conducted prior to Executive Committee approval, and the new members are then welcomed and invited to share in the Club's activities.
