The Women’s International Club Jakarta (WIC) was founded in 1950 by ladies of four different nationalities – India, Indonesia, UK and USA.
After 63 years, with a club motto “Friendship Through Understanding”
WIC became a gathering place for women of many more nationalities, coming together in friendship, taking part in the many circles learning from each other, getting involved in social welfare activities, and joining hands in raising funds together organizing the WIC Annual Charity Bazaar.
The Club is a secular and strictly non-political, non-profit organisation, open only to women, and run by a mixed Indonesian/expatriate Executive Committee elected by the membership.
The aims of the Club are :
- To foster friendship and mutual understanding between women of different nationalities;
- To contribute to the cultural development of women in general;
- To contribute to social improvement.
